The month of May was wet wet wet, well until the 11th May that is. Thanks for this one good days weather were given to Spencer Wilcox for having influence in high places. A total of 8 teams, consisting of 28 players, teed off in the Club’s 10th annual golf day at Channels Golf Club, Little Waltham. There were the usual old faces and a few new players who were made very welcome. Two of whom were from Harleston Magpies.
As has become a tradition, teams were colourfully kitted out in team strip hoping to win the coveted “Best Dressed Team” award. The team “Fantastic Fore!” consisting of Jon Lambert, Russell Jackson, Steve Kemble and Ronan Kavanagh were the winners.
Results for the day are as follows:
Belsteads Course - AM
3rd Phil Goode, Nick Bastian, Luke Mepham & Richard Nourse
2nd Jason Evans, Andrew Bedwell and Peter Thornett
1st Peter Carter, Richard Bird and Graham Rumbold
Channels Course - PM
3rd Willy Hales, Chris Letts, Richard Johnson and Jeremy Humphrey
2nd Peter Carter, Richard Bird and Graham Rumbold
1st Phil Goode, Nick Bastian, Luke Mepham & Richard Nourse
Nearest the Pin: Jimmy Smith
Longest Drive: Chris Letts
Phil Goode on count back from Richard Bird
And finally the “JAM Awards” were presented to team “Fantastic Fore!” who between them did not get a single point on the 6th hole, and the “Bandit of the Day” was presented to Richard Bird who played exceptionally well and claimed not to know the course, but he used to be a member.
As usual the course was immaculate and proved a challenge for most participants. Thanks were given at the dinner to the staff of Channels for an excellent day.
